‘Major Moves’ is much more than an album title for NYC grime pioneer, Gi Major. As a self-proclaimed cross-genre MC with a UK Grime influence, Gi has spent the past 5 years cultivating a grime movement in a city deeply rich in it’s hip-hop roots, while simultaneously running a record label [Sedimentary Sound], event series [ON THE LOW], and developing arts programs for incarcerated youth at Crossroads Juvenile Detention Center in Brooklyn. Gi’s unparalleled ability to cross-pollinate both sounds and markets while maintaining a focus on community driven outreach has undoubtedly solidified her as a champion in her own right, giving meaning to the name, ‘Major Moves’.
